Miss Petunia aka “Tunie” has been losing weight since settling here and her eyes are opening up more! She’s not as scared as she was in the beginning when her eyesight was partially obstructed and she couldn’t see very well unless she turned her head a certain way. It meant she was startled very easily and wasn’t quite sure what was happening in her new surroundings…all she knew was to run away, quickly!

As she’s settled in more she is starting to learn each person by their voice and loves to talk back to them. She definitely has the most to say! She knows when someone is coming her way and begins voicing herself loudly in delight as she knows it means one of her favorite things is on the way…food (especially juicy cucumbers), being brushed or belly rubs.

Miss Petunia took a road trip to Washington, Va to Rose Hill Veterinary Practice PC-Large Animal

last week where she spent a couple days in anticipation of her spay surgery and for recovery. The surgery went well and we are very thankful for the staff who took such good care of her!

When she first got back to FHAH she was very vocal about how mad she was at us for loading her up on a long trip and then leaving her, but she is gradually and slowly forgiving us. (Ulthough it is clear she doesn’t let go of things easily and is certain to make us work for it ) We assured her it was for her health and longevity so she could be around as long as possible!

She is healing well, has been getting pumkin daily to help keep things moving with recovery and gradually getting her appetite back. She has to be kept in a smaller area for 10-14 days with no running or jumping and then she will be cleared to have her stitches removed. We know she will be happy to return to her regular pasture again where she can kick up her feet and run next to all the other piggies!
